Donations Needed For Copperopolis Library
Copperopolis, CA -- The Copperopolis Library may soon be closing its doors. Library attendant Valerie Dean says high rent, budget cuts and lack of money in the general fund are reasons why. The Copperopolis Library is one of eight branches in the Calaveras County Library System, and is being targeted as the first branch to close.
$4000 was initially needed to keep the library functioning, but with recent fundraising efforts, only $2200 is now needed to keep the library in operation. Dean added that in Copperopolis, the library is the community hub, a place where people gather, socialize and can go for free internet, movies, dvd's, books on tape, literacy and children's programs and more. For donation information call the Copperopolis Library at 785-0920.
