Missing Scouts Safe

Tamarack, CA -- Two Boy Scouts that went missing from Camp Wolfeboro in Calaveras County were found safe Friday.

The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office says the two scouts were reported missing late Thursday night. The Camp is located in the unincorporated community of Tamarack near Bear Valley.

The Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to the location, and learned that the boys had last been seen on the north bank of the Stanislaus River. At approximately 8am Friday, searchers spotted the two boys along the drainage of Highland Creek, south of the Stanislaus River.

A CHP Helicopter was able to land in the area, and transported the boys back to the camp where they were checked by staff and determined to be in good condition. The boys are 15 years old and from Oakland and Orinda, California.

In all, five Deputy Sheriff's, one Sheriff Sgt., 10 volunteers and a CHP helicopter and crew participated in the search.
