Steven Shield, MD, is board certified in Family Medicine and is the medical director for Job Care, an occupational health clinic operated by Sonora Regional Medical Center. Dr. Shield is also a Family Practice physician at Groveland Family Medical Center where he has worked since 1993. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Shield has performed surgical assisting for general, orthopedic and spine surgery, completing approximately 500 spine surgery assists. Dr. Shield graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and spent one year in a pathology residency followed by a three-year Family Medicine residency, also at Loma Linda. He briefly served as an attending physician in the Loma Linda Family Medicine program before moving to Tuolumne County.
