Rim Fire And Juvenile Hall On Agenda

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will talk about several items on Tuesday.

The Board will vote whether to send a letter to Governor Jerry Brown about using funds from the 2006 AB 32 Global Warming legislation to help with Rim Fire biomass removal. There are existing piles of biomass on the Rim Fire footprint, and additional biomass will be generated from logging and cleanup. The county plans to also seek subsidies from the federal Biomass Crop Assistance Program.

The County will also vote on approving a $595-K contract for the next phase of construction planning for the Juvenile Detention Facility. In March of 2009, the county received a $16,000,000 state grant to build the 22,114 sq. ft. facility. The county is looking to soon request bids for the overall construction.

Another item up for discussion will be improvements at the Columbia Pool.

At 12:15pm, the Board will meet at the Sonora Public Library for a ribbon cutting, as portions of the facility were recently remodeled.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am.
