Detwiler Fire at 97-Percent Containment

Mariposa, CA — Around 1,600 firefighters continue to mop-up the Detwiler Fire burning in Mariposa County.

We reported yesterday that CAL Fire has determined the cause to be “the discharge of firearms on public lands.” A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible.

The fire ignited on Sunday, July 16, and destroyed 137 structures. All earlier evacuation orders and advisories have been lifted. There are 67 engines still on scene, two helicopters, 31 water tenders and six dozers. Crews are also making repairs along some of the earlier carved out fire lines.
