“Let The Games Begin”

Sacramento, CA – That is the response from Mother Lode State Senator Tom Berryhill on the Governor’s “May Revise” budget.

Berryhill says he appreciates the Governor’s spending restraint in that budget, but cautions that his legislative colleagues may be “playing on a different field”.  Berryhill argues that “there is no surplus in California’s so-called surplus” citing the Legislative Analyst Office report showing the state $340 billion in debt.

Berryhill says, “Rather than new spending let’s get rid of the fire tax and any other taxes or fees unfairly placed on some communities when the economy was bad. The last thing we need is more spending adding to the real crisis that will occur 10 to 20 years from now, when our kids are saddled with crippling debt.”
