Update: Red Flag Warning

The Red Flag Warning issued for the Mother Lode and the Stanislaus National Forest will remain in effect until 11 AM this morning.

Breezy north winds continue this morning, although somewhat weaker than on Sunday. Winds of ten to twenty mph will continue with gusts up to forty mph. Winds will be decreasing rapidly later this morning. By late morning, wind speeds should become fairly light and remain light through the rest of the day and tonight.

Humidity values remain quite low. Daytime morning humidities are in the teens.

Extreme fire weather conditions exist. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning in the forest is not recommended.

Another windy system is likely Tuesday and Wednesday bringing another round of elevated fire danger.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
