Prescribed Burn Planned Near Arnold

Arnold, CA — You may see some smoke today in the Calaveras Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.

34 acres are planned to be burned approximately one mile west of Arnold along 323 Valley View Road. The prescribed burn is expected to continue into early June as conditions allow. The burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture and air quality. The goal is to help improve the safety of the Arnold community, enhance firefighter safety, protect watersheds, and protect campgrounds.

The Forest Service notes that there is no need to report the burn as a wildfire.
