Update: Ben Fire Acreage And Containment Grow

Update at 1:10 p.m.: Cal Fire has updated information for the Ben Fire located off Ben Hur Road near Silver Bar Road in the Mormon Bar area of Mariposa County. Both the acreage and containment have gone up, from 400 to 630 acres and 10 to 30-percent contained. Cal Fire reports that crews continue to improve the fire supression containment lines around the flames perimeter.The number of resources battling the flames from the air and ground has also changed. The total personnel on scene is 325. There are 30 fire engines, 20 crews, 2 air tankers, three helicopters, 9 dozers and 7 water tenders. Cal fire reports portions of Ben Hur Road have been closed at Buckeye Road and the Quick Ranch entrance . There are no reports of structures being at-risk and what sparked the blaze is still under investigation.

Original post at 11:15 a.m.: Mariposa County, CA — There is a notable fire burning in an isolated area of Mariposa County that local resources are helping to extinguish.

The Ben Fire is located off Ben Hur Road near Silver Bar Road. It is in the Mormon Bar area. Firefighters are battling the blaze from both the ground and air. It has burned 400 acres and it is 10-percent contained. There are 33 fire engines, six crews, three air tankers, three helicopters, four dozers and four water tenders assigned. No injuries have been reported and there are no immediate reports of structures being at-risk. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
