Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department has identified the man who was located dead by railroad tracks earlier this week. He is 35-year-old Matthew William Birdsong. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected at this time.
We reported in August of 2012 that Birdsong pleaded guilty to robbing mini-mart at gunpoint in Columbia. He was also in the news this past March when the Sonora Police Department arrested him after he walked into a Sonora apartment and the tenant found him asleep inside.
