Sacramento, CA — California lawmakers have a chance to seek answers to several questions lingering about the state’s proposed high speed rail project.
A groundbreaking was held last year for the project’s first 29-mile stretch near Fresno in the Central Valley. The Associated Press reports that the train has been beset by delays in acquiring needed land. There are also mounting questions about the actual cost of the project, which the state last estimated to be around $68-billion. The CEO of the High Speed Rail Authority, the chairman of its board, and the leader of an oversight commission, will testify before a panel of Assembly lawmakers.
Later next month the High Speed Rail Authority will provide its 2016 business plan to lawmakers.
