Butte Fire Cleanup Continues: Sandbags Available

San Andreas, CA — Sandbags are available in anticipation of the storm system headed toward the region.

Flooding is an ongoing concern within the Butte Fire footprint. Sand and bags are currently available to all Calaveras County residents at the Mountain Ranch Community Park on Washington Street, also at 145 Mangili Road in Valley Springs and at 313 Vista Del Lago in Rancho Calaveras. The county reports that you need to show a proof of residency before receiving the sandbags.

100 properties have now been cleared of burn debris, and 26 debris removal crews continue to work. There are over 700 properties, total, that need to be attended to. Over the coming weeks, FEMA will be bringing in temporary modular homes for many of the displaced homeowners.

Today is the last day to sign up for FEMA assistance and/or low interest loans from the federal Small Business Administration.
