Meadow Fire Nears Containment

Yosemite, CA — The vegetation fire burning in Yosemite National Park is 98% contained and remains at 4,771 acres.

Park officials say smoke is occasionally visible from the interior of the fire perimeter, which is now in a monitoring status. The only areas open in the Little Yosemite Valley include the trail to Half Dome and the Little Yosemite Valley campground.

The fire was sparked by lightning and was first spotted on August 15. There is no estimated date of full containment.
