Sonora, CA — Sheriff Jim Mele has announced the promotion of two deputies to vacant detective positions.
11 year law enforcement veteran Neil Evans was promoted to the rank of detective. The Washington State University graduate served two years as a resource officer in Jamestown and at Columbia Elementary School.
Also promoted to the rank of detective was Zach Gorton. Gorton has been with the Sheriff´s Department for five-and-a-half years and is but one class shy of receiving his A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Modesto Junior College.
