Passenger Identified In Calaveras County Motorcycle Crash

San Andreas, CA — The C.H.P. has identified the passenger on a 2001 Honda motorcycle that crashed Tuesday afternoon as 20 year old Anthony Linebaugh of White Pines.

Linebaugh and the unidentified driver crashed the stolen motorcycle east of Rancho Paradise near Arnold on Hwy 4. According to the C.H.P., the bike was being driven in a reckless manner passing traffic in the opposing lane at a high rate of speed. The Honda was attempting to negotiate a right hand curve traveling eastbound in the westbound lane at an estimated speed of 70 plus mph.

The driver apparently observed a westbound truck and turned to the left which caused the bike to travel off the roadway and up a dirt embankment continuing in an easterly direction parallel to the highway. The motorcycle then traveled down the embankment toward the highway when it flipped end over end ejecting the two riders. The motorcycle came to rest in the middle of the highway.

The driver immediately fled the scene while Linebaugh was flown to a Modesto hospital with undetermined injuries.
