Smoke May Be Visible In Forest

Groveland, CA — Pile burning will begin later this month in the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.

The Forest Service reports that smoke may be visible in the wildland urban interface areas of Hells Hollow, Smith Station, Greely Hill, Wagner Ridge and stretches of Highway 120. A total of 250 acres will be burned through late Spring of 2011. The purpose is to reduce flammable forest fuels. The burns will be conducted on permissive burn days and will be subject to allowable weather conditions.
