Update: Car And Vegetation Fire In Tuolumne County

Update at 5:30 p.m.:  A car and vegetation fire on Jacksonville Road near the Twist Road intersection in Jamestown has been knockdown. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports the grass fire has been contained at a 100 by 100 foot in size.

Update at 5:15 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that when firefighters arrived on the scene the car was fully engulfed in flames. She adds that the vegetation fire is small in size and moving at a slow rate of spread. The CHP reports that all of the occupants of the vehicle made it out safely and that a hillside is on fire. They also report that traffic is being stopped at Twist Road.

Helicopter 404 has been called back to the Columbia base as crews are getting a handle on the blaze, according to Kilgore. The flames broke out in car and spread to nearby grass along Jacksonville Road near the Twist Road intersection in Jamestown.
