Prescribed Burn In San Andreas

San Andreas, CA — Smoke is visible today near the San Andreas Recreation and Park District ball fields due to a planned burn.

Around 14 acres of grass and oak woodland is being ignited to reduce the hazardous fire fuels. It is also a chance for firefighters to gain training on active wildfire. The fire was ignited this morning and it should wrap up by this afternoon. Smoke has been visible from Highway 49, Mountain Ranch Road and near the Calaveras County Government Center.

Cooperating agencies assisting San Andreas Fire Protection District with the burn include CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, Calaveras County Air Pollution Control District, Calaveras Consolidated Fire District and Central Calaveras Fire and Rescue Protection District.
