BLM Implements Fire Restrictions

Sonora, CA — The Bureau of Land Management has implemented fire restrictions within its Mother Lode Field office boundary.

This includes BLM lands in Tuolumne, Calaveras and nine other counties. The restrictions prohibit all open fires due to the dry conditions. This includes all campfires and open fire stoves, except lanterns and portable stoves using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid gel. The fire restrictions are in effect until further notice. Violations are punishable by fines up to $1,000 or up to one year in jail.
