County Drops Mountain Springs Assessed Value

Sonora, CA – The Tuolumne County Supervisors have approved a request to drop the assessed value of the Mountain Springs Golf Course for fiscal year 2009/10.

The original assessed value was just over $5 million, and has now been reduced to $2.95 million. Mountain Springs Golf, Inc. requested the reduced assessment because of a drop in the real estate market and a decline in business. Mountain Springs initially asked for a $1.5 million assessment, but County Assessor-Recorder Ken Caetano’s office felt that $2.95 million is more accurate after analyzing market figures and data.

The County’s reduced assessment decision only includes the golf course property, and not the proposed subdivision approved by the Supervisors in 2008.
