Over $24,000 Awarded To Calaveras Groups

San Andreas, CA– Eleven local groups have been awarded a total of $24,295 in the first round of 2011 funding by the Calaveras Community Foundation.

Grants awarded in this first round went to Calaveras 4 Teen Center, Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Paloma Community Group, American Legion, Calaveras Community Band, Copperopolis Community Center, San Andreas Halloween Carnival, Boy Scout Troop 302-Valley Springs and the Copperopolis Community Food Pantry.

“We had so many worthwhile organizations requesting funds this year that it was more difficult than usual to choose the recipients,” said Scott Ratterman, Grant Committee Chair. “We encourage all groups who were not funded this year to persevere and reapply again next year.”

Since 2001, the Foundation has provided more than $550,000 in competitive grants, scholarships and assistance.
