Update: Investigation Into Robbery At Walmart

Update at 1:55 p.m.: Sonora Police have released new details regarding a robbery at the local Walmart store. Police confirm that the theft happened around 10:20 a.m. at the retailer on Sanguinetti Road at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Sonora. SPD spokesperson Naomi Moran updates Clarke Broadcasting, “Three subjects wearing masks used smashing devices to remove cash drawers. They fled in a dark-colored sedan with two cash drawers, each with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

It is unclear whether the drawers were taken from the self-checkout lanes or a clerk-manned checkout. Moran noted that no further information is being released at this time as it is an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the SPD at 209-532-8143.

Original post at 11:35 a.m.: Sonora, CA — Sonora police are on the scene of a reported robbery at the Walmart Store.

Sonora Police dispatch did confirm to Clarke Broadcasting that an incident occurred at the retailer but could not disclose more information. There are reports that suspects went into the store and removed three registers, then ran out of the store. There is a current investigation underway, and we will have updates as they become available.
