Mayor Advocates For Grant Funding

The Sonora City Council will soon decide whether to apply for a Community Based Transportation Grant.


Sonora Mayor Bill Canning talks about the agencies that would be involved and the benefits for the city in his new myMotherlode.com blog. It has been a controversial topic among City Council members, as some have voiced opposition. The Council will decide next month whether to request the $250,000 in available federal grant funding. The City would be asked to cover 2.5 percent and the Tuolumne County Transportation Council would cover 7.5 percent.
