Crews Fighting Fire Near Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA — CAL Fire says 13 engines and 2 helicopters are battling the flames on a 5 to 10 acre fire.

No structures are in danger and no roads have been closed, but you may want to avoid the area.

 UPDATE: The flames are moving south engulfing 25 acres now. No word on rate of spread.  The fire is on the south side of Highway 4.


UPDATE: CAL Fire reports 40 acres are now in flames and they have it 30% contained. Two tankers have been released. Also, one helicopter and Air-Attack are on the scene.  No word on what sparked the blaze.


UPDATE: CAL Fire reports 95 acres in flames and they have it 50% contained. Crews will work through the night to contain the blaze.
