Water Back On In Tuolumne City

Tuolumne City, CA — T.U.D. crews have got the taps flowing again in Tuolumne City. They have fixed a main water line break. T.U.D. had asked residents in the town to refrain from using outside water until the repairs were made. The damage from the break forced T.U.D. to use the only water tank that serves community. During the repairs it was draining and could have caused a water outage.

T.U.D. General Manager Pete Kampa says the crew that fixed the break did a fantastic job. He says the cause of the break was due to pipes and gaskets installed in the 50’s to the 70’s. Kampa says the inferior material need replacing. The crew had to cut a road through brush up a steep hillside for a tractor to repair the leak. He says you never know how much time or how bad it will be until you get to the source of the break.
