Vegetation Fire Calaveras County

Vallecito, CA – Crews are battling a blaze from the ground and air. The Columbia Unit is up working a vegetation fire on Parrotts Ferry Road near Moaning Caverns Road in Vallecito. There is no word on size or rate of spread at this time. We will bring you updates when we have more information.

Update 3:15pm: Cal Fire reports the fire is nearly 3 acres and they are getting a hold on it. They say two tankers battling the blaze and one is on the ground holding at Columbia Airport. Cal Fire dispatch says that is a good sign ground crews are getting a handle on the forward rate of spread.


Update 4pm: Cal Fire reports the flames are nearly contained at three acres.
