Fires Burn In Mariposa And Madera Counties

Mariposa County, CA — Some resources from the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of CAL Fire have been assisting with fires just outside the area.


The Carstens Fire is burning in Mariposa County. It is roughly 1,000 acres, and located on Carstens Road, east of Highway 140 near Midpines. There are some evacuation orders for about 500 homes in the Hites Cove, Jerseydale and Scott Road area. There is no containment percentage at this time. Click here to view a map of the area.


Down in Madera County, the Rolling Fire has burned 480 acres and its 80% contained. It is located off Highway 41. Click here to view a map.


Updated at 9:35am: CAL Fire officials initially stated that the Rolling Fire was estimated to be 950 acres, but this morning reduced the size estimate to 482 acres.
