Lightning Across Region

Sonora, CA — There was a notable lightning show in some areas of the Mother Lode last night.


CAL Fire reports this morning that thankfully no vegetation fires have been reported in the Tuolumne-Calaveras region. The lightning reportedly was very visible in areas like Copperopolis and south Tuolumne County.


There was a vegetation fire last night at around 6pm in the Yosemite Lakes Park area of Coarsegold. There is no word yet on what caused the fire, and if it was related to thunderstorms making their way through the region. It was called contained in about an hour, but resources remain on scene this morning. It is about 10-12 acres in size.
