Man Injured In Highway 49 Crash

San Andreas, CA — A man was hurt in a rollover accident in Calaveras County over the weekend.

It happened over the weekend when 72-year-old Alfred Charlesworth of Wilton drifted off the eastern edge of Highway 49 and hit an embankment. His 2003 Ford pickup then swerved across both traffic lanes, down an embankment, through a wire fence and eventually overturning on its roof.

Charlesworth was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center. He reportedly had “moderate” injuries. The CHP reports that alcohol likely played a factor in the crash. The accident was reported at 5:15pm on Saturday. To view a map of the area, click here.
