Emergency Officials Preparing For Storm System

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office over snow vehicle (OSV) deputies, along with search and rescue team members, are proactively out making sure no one is venturing into unsafe areas.

We reported earlier that the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada, above 5,000 ft., from Friday afternoon through Monday evening. Toward the end of the storm system, Sunday and Monday, snow levels could even dip to around 3,500 ft.  You should be extremely cautious when doing any outdoor high country recreating over the coming days.

In addition, the Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to slow down and drive with caution. Keep your gas tank full and carry the proper chains. Also, have blankets, water, food, a shovel, flashlight, and appropriate clothing for winter conditions.
