Update: Firefighters On Scene Of Structure Fire In Sonora

Update at 7:10am: The Sonora Police Department says Washington Street/Highway 49 is back open in both directions near the structure fire in the 300 block of North Washington Street. Crews continue to work to fully extinguish the fire so be prepared for activity there and drive with caution. Officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Update at 6:50am: The Sonora Police Department reports that North Washington Street is closed in both directions due to the structure fire in the 300 block. Snell Street can be utilized to access Sonora High School. Small cars heading between Columbia and Sonora are utilizing Columbia Way to Stewart Street, however, large trucks are not able to pass through that area.  You will want to continue to avoid the area if possible.

Multiple fire crews are arriving on scene so be prepared for activity in the area. Flames were coming from the structure when the first responders arrived. We’ll pass along more information when it becomes available.
