Local Wins Statewide Rural Photo Contest

Sacramento, CA – A beautiful sunset over New Melones took first place in the Rural County Representatives of California’s (RCRC) 2018 Rural County Photo Contest.

The winning picture by Mother Lode resident Peggy Sells was unveiled last month at the groups 2018 Annual Meeting in Napa County. Sells is a Mail Courier for Tuolumne County. Deputy County Administrator Daniel Richardson describes her as “a friend to everyone.” As seen in the image box, the photo showcases Table Mountain overlooking New Melones Reservoir in Tuolumne County. It beat out 260 other entries from both amateur and professional photographers. The group notes that the picture may now be featured in various RCRC marketing materials or work product throughout the next year.

Sells concentrates on nature, wildfire, and landscapes in her photography, according to RCRC. The photo is titled “Sunset Over New Melones Reservoir with Springtime Flowers on Table Mountain,” RCRC leaders note that the contest was established to promote tourism and local economic development by showcasing the beautiful landscape, scenery, activities, history, and charm of its 36 member counties. One of those leaders is Tuolumne County Supervisor Randy Hanvelt, who was elected the organizations Vice Chair, as reported here earlier this year.
