Escaped Debris Burn Sparked Wildfire

Oakdale, CA — Tuolumne County Fire Department helped put out and early morning vegetation fire in the Oakdale area of Stanislaus County.

Dubbed the “Franken Fire,” it broke out around 4:30 a.m. along Frankenheimer Road near Sonora Road. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore relays that Fire investigators “determined a fire lit in a debris pile without clearance started the Franken Fire.”  The flames spread to 11.3 acres before crews were able to contain the blaze.

CAL Fire reminds the public that burning is suspended in the Mother Lode due to the dry and dangerous fire conditions.
