Sewer System Smoke Testing Planned On Camage Avenue

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District reports that you may notice some smoke Wednesday in the vicinity of Tuolumne Road near Camage Avenue.

T.U.D. will be smoke testing its sewer collection system between 8am-2pm. The smoke testing is an effort to limit the cost of treating rainwater at the sewage treatment plant and pumping costs at the lift stations. The testing is a way to see if there are any leaks in the system. T.U.D. reports that it is not unusual to see plumes of smoke coming from peculiar places, such as cracks in the street, or in residential yards, during smoke testing.
