Gearing Up For Next Year’s Election

Sonora, CA — In addition to state and federal seats, next June’s primary election will include some board of supervisor races, sheriff, superintendent of schools, district attorney and others.

Tuolumne County Clerk and Auditor Controller Debi Bautista says the first day candidates can start pulling papers to collect signatures, in-lieu of a filing fee, is December 14th. The Tuolumne County Elections Office has scheduled a free class on Thursday, November 30th, to help anyone interested in running for office, or those simply curious about the process. The class “Ready, Set, Run” will go from 5:30-7pm at the Elections Office at 2 South Green Street in Sonora.

Topics will include important dates to remember, the candidate filing process, ballot designation rules, candidate statements and requesting voter and election information.

Tuolumne County races on the June primary ballot will include the district two and three supervisor seats (Hanvelt and Royce), Sheriff, Assessor-Recorder, Clerk-Auditor-Controller, District Attorney, Treasurer-Tax Collector, Superior Court Judge positions and two at-large Sonora City Council seats (Garaventa and Segarini).

In addition, there are races for US House District Four, US Senate, Governor, Lt. Governor, CA Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, CA Senate and Assembly.
