Update: Various Power Outages Around Mother Lode

Update at 10:50 am: All but 31 PG&E customers impacted by an outage in the Lambert Lake area have now been restored. PG&E says it was weather-related and it is unclear when the remaining customers will have power back on.

There is also a new outage impacting 67 customers in the Hathaway Pines community in Calaveras County. PG&E reports that the outage was planned ahead of time and is due to needed maintenance work. Full restoration should come by 4:30 pm.

Update at 9:57 am: While a majority of the PG&E customers impacted by an earlier outage in Murphys have been restored, a new outage has occurred in the area around Tuolumne Road and Lambert Lake. 686 customers are without electricity, and PG&E reports that the preliminary determination is that it is weather related. It is unclear when the power will be restored. On a related note, Interfaith Social Services will be closed today due to the outage.

Original story posted at 6:46 am: Sonora, CA — Hurricane Hilary arrived in southern California over the weekend bringing heavy flooding, mudslides, and power outages.

Governor Gavin Newsom commented last night from a State Office of Emergency Services meeting in San Bernardino County, “It is certainly interesting times with tornados and lightning strikes. I have CAL Fire worried about wildfires because of the winds.”

Newsom urged everyone to take precautions and stressed that state leaders were mobilized to meet storm-related demands.

There were also periods of heavy rain in many parts of the state, including the Mother Lode. There is one power outage in the Tuolumne-Calaveras region this morning. There are 278 PG&E customers who lost power east of Murphys last night. Full restoration is anticipated by 2pm. PG&E has determined that weather was the cause.

Widespread power outages in the Mother Lode stemming from a significant storm system on Saturday evening, bringing heavy lightning and thunder, have been restored, according to PG&E.
