Detwiler Fire Up To 98-Percent Containment

Mariposa, CA — Over 1,600 firefighters remain on scene working to reach full containment on the 81,826 acre Detwiler Fire.

CAL Fire had initially hoped to reach full containment by Saturday, but officials report this morning it is 98-percent contained. 137 structures have been destroyed, but no additional homes or buildings are considered threatened. Two helicopters continue to fly overhead, and there are 67 engines on the ground, 45 crews, 31 water tenders and six dozers.

The fire ignited on Sunday, July 16 at 3:56pm along Detwiler Road near the intersection of Hunters Valley Road, two miles east of Lake McClure. Click here to read an earlier story detailing the cause of the fire.
