Jamestown, CA — Construction of the first phase of the Quartz-Stent water main extension project is getting underway this week in the Jamestown area.
The Tuolumne Utilities District has received over $1.6-million in grant funding for the project from the Department of Water Resources and the State Water Resources Control Board. Mozingo Construction of Oakdale has been hired to install approximately 12,000 linear ft. of water main to connect 52 properties that will receive supply from T.U.D. The main will have the potential to eventually connect up to 100 properties.
Due to the drought, over 30 homes in the Quartz and Stent area have experienced well failures. Many homes are participating in the county’s well assistance program, but that temporary supply will expire once funding is exhausted, so connecting to T.U.D. is a permanent solution. The project is expected to wrap up in early April, pending weather conditions.
