Fare Increase Eyed For Tuolumne County Transit

Sonora, CA — It may soon cost a little more to ride on Tuolumne County Transit buses.

The Tuolumne County Transit Agency will consider raising the fares at an upcoming meeting on Wednesday, November 9.

Transportation Planner Tyler Summersett notes, “There are certain state requirements about the amount of funding that we need to recoup as part of our services, and we have just recently started to fall below that threshold, and this is an attempt to keep us within the state required percentage (10-percent) for what we collect from passengers.”

If approved, the increase would likely take effect on January 1st. The meeting will begin at 3pm on November 9 in the Board of Supervisors meeting room. It is a public hearing, where members of the community can voice opinions.

For example, a one-way ticket would increase from the current price of $1.50 to $2. The day pass fee would increase from the current $4 up to $5. For more details about the proposal, click on the image box in the upper left hand corner.
