Dotson Named Interim Columbia Elementary Superintendent

Columbia, CA — A familiar face in Tuolumne County will lead Columbia Elementary School over the short-term.

Last night the Board of Trustees met in closed session and agreed to hire Diane Dotson as the interim Superintendent/Principal.  She was previously the joint Superintendent at Curtis Creek and Jamestown elementary schools before retiring in 2014. A district official reports this morning that Dotson will step into the role on November 1st and remain in the position until a permanent replacement is selected, which could come at the end of the school year. The district has not given an explanation for dismissing former Superintendent/Principal Craig Bowden last week. Board President Jenny David earlier indicated to Clarke Broadcasting that the board is limited in regards to what it can say due to confidentiality rules surrounding closed session meetings and personnel decisions.
