Sonora Walmart Temporarily Closes

Sonora, CA — The lights went out at the Sonora Walmart forcing the retailer to close its doors Tuesday afternoon until repairs could be made.

A store assistant manager giving her first name as Brenda told Clarke Broadcasting that the power outage was caused by construction going on in conjunction with the grocery store addition, but declined to comment further as to the time frame of exactly when and how long the lights went out or provide more details on the cause.

On the Sonora Walmart Facebook page a notice to customers stated, “To all our faithful customers: Our Sonora Walmart has re-opened after our short power outage. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your continued support.”

As previously reported, construction on the expansion began earlier this year on the 27,000 sq. ft. grocery addition that will bring the stores total size to just over 156,000. Walmart’s corporate office estimates it will be open to the public sometime in 2017.
