Columbia Air Assisting Fire In Merced County

Update at 3:15 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire along Los Cerritos Road near Snelling is “holding at five acres in size.” There is no word on whether any structures are threatened.

Original post at 2:55 p.m.: Snelling, CA — If you saw or heard the Columbia aircraft fly over head they are heading to a vegetation fire in the Snelling area.

Cal Fire reports the flames broke out along Los Cerritos Road near Olsen Road just before 3 p.m. Additionally, several engines and a dozer from the Cal Fire Tuolumne Calaveras unit are heading to assist in battling a blaze in Merced County. There is no word on the size or rate of spread at this time. We will bring you more details on this fire as it comes into the newsroom.
