Tioga Pass To Open

Yosemite, CA — Motorists will once again be able to travel over Highway 120 Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park beginning Wednesday.

Yosemite officials report the pass will be opened at noon. “We would like to thank all of our road crews, as well as our partners in Mono County and Caltrans, for all of their hard work in clearing the road for the opening tomorrow,” stated Don Neubacher, Superintendent. “Visitors are urged to travel with caution, as there will be ongoing roadwork and the possibility of ice in some places, especially in the early morning hours.”

All campgrounds and commercial services, including the Tuolumne Store, and Village Grill remain closed with park officials giving no estimated opening date. Additionally, the nearest gas stations are at Crane Flat and Lee Vining. Portable toilets are available in several locations along the highway and there will be limited visitor services available over the next several weeks.  Visitors are also warned that late spring storms could change driving conditions and force additional closures. As previously reported, Caltrans opened Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass last Friday, May 13 at noon. While last week officials projected Highway 108 Sonora Pass to open on Wednesday, no confirmation has yet been issued.
