Sonora, CA — As Tuolumne County responds to the Governor’s State of Emergency related to high tree mortality, some public forums are being planned for community residents.
Tracie Riggs, Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator, reports that representatives from several groups will be on hand to speak at the forums and answer any questions from those in attendance. There will be officials from Tuolumne County OES, CAL Fire, TUD, county roads, US Forest Service, Sierra Resource Management, AT&T and PG&E. Tuolumne County is planning to remove thousands of trees over the coming months that are threatening roads and other public infrastructure. The high tree mortality is primarily being attributed to a combination of the drought and bark beetles.
The meetings will be held on April 7 at Columbia Elementary, April 12 in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in downtown Sonora, April 14 in the Twain Harte Elementary Cafeteria and April 19 at Tenaya Elementary in Groveland. All of the meetings will start at 6pm.
