Rate Increase Helps T.U.D.’s Budget

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District Board of Directors will have a discussion about the budget, and hear about a neighboring county’s efforts to store water in New Melones Reservoir.

The Board will vote whether to approve a revised budget that allows the district to meet its expenses through the end of the fiscal year. It takes into account the additional $870,000 and $931,000 respectively that will go into the district’s water and sewer funds, thanks to the rate increase that took effect at the beginning of January. The combined water and sewer budget will be just over $13.3-million.

In addition, the board will hear a presentation from Calaveras County Water District General Manager Dave Eggerton about efforts to gain federal government approval for his district to store water in New Melones Reservoir. Eggerton will talk about how it could be beneficial to T.U.D., and will request a letter of support from the board for CCWD’s Warren Act Request. Today’s meeting starts at 2pm in the T.U.D. Board meeting room.
