Mountain Ranch, CA — Residents that are homeless due to the Butte Fire can now stop by a warming center that will be open three days a week.
The Mountain Ranch Community Relief Efforts, a project of Earth Cause, announces that the center will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am-2pm. Lunch will be available for fire survivors. It is also a place to get information on resources, or just a hot cup of coffee. Funding for the warming center has been provided by private citizens, and donations from groups like the Calaveras Community Fundation, 4H, Friends of Rail Road Flat School, Mountain Ranch Community Club and Calaveras Mini Storage.
In addition, the site will be open overnight if certain weather criteria is met. It includes having overnight lows below 35 degrees, daytime highs of 45 degrees or below for three consecutive days, 40 degrees or below weather with 25 mph winds, flood warnings or watches, mud and debris flow warnings, or winter weather alerts.
