Wildcats Play For Title

Sonora, CA — For the second straight year in a row, Sonora will hit the gridiron in hopes of being named the Champions.

Last week’s sound defeating of the Orestimba Warriors, 62-6, sealed the Wildcats trip to the title game. Both the offense and defense shined in the game with the Warriors only scoring once in the third quarter. The Wildcats also held Orestimba’s almost 2000-yard rusher to well under his average yardage.

No. 1 Sonora (11-1) will take the field against No. 6 seed Bear River (9-3) for the Division V Sac Joaquin Section Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Elk Grove High School. The game can be heard live on Star 92.7 and streamed on mymotherlode.com.

One note, last year the Wildcats lost the Division IV Sac Joaquin Championship game in a close battle against Central Catholic of Modesto, 42-35. Sonora finished the successful season with an overall record of 11-2.
