Update: Vegetation Fire Near Wilseyville Contained

Update at 5:40pm: Cal Fire reports the fire is contained at 2 acres. Crews will remain on scene for about three hour mopping up, according to dispatch. What sparked the blaze is still under investigation

Update at 5:05pm: Cal Fire reports the fire has grown in size to approximately 1 1/2 and 2 acres with a slow rate of spread. Dispatch has pin pointed the location of the flames to be along Blue Mountain Road near Wonder Way. On scene are 4 engines, 1 water tender, 2 hand crews along with Columbia Air-Attack and helicopter.  No structures are threatened at this time.

Original Post at 4:33pm: Wilseyville, CA — Firefighters and Columbia aircraft are battling a vegetation fire in the Wilseyville area.

A caller alerted Cal Fire to a column of smoke coming up along Mitchell Mill Road  near Blue Mountain Road in the Dutch Creek drainage area. Cal Fire dispatch reports the fire is an acre in size and moving a slow rate of spread. There is no word on whether any structures are threatened. We will bring you more information as soon as it comes into the newsroom.
