Fire Fee And Tax Talk In Calaveras County

Calaveras County, CA – State Board of Equalization Vice Chair George Runner will field questions on  two hot topics at a pair of town hall meeting this Saturday.

Up for discussion is California taxes and the Fire Fee. Runner has been very vocal on the latter since first introduced in 2012.  As previously reported, in May, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association initiated steps towards filing a class action lawsuit over the charge arguing since collected funds are not used to provide an actual service, the charge is not a fee but an illegal tax. A claim Runner has also made in the past.

Here are the details for both of Saturday’s meetings:

Fire Prevention Fee Town Hall: ( hosted by the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Firefighters Association)
