Car Crash Ignited Copperopolis Fire

Copperopolis, CA — A vehicle accident sparked a five-acre vegetation fire last night in Copperopolis.

A vehicle hit a power pole on Copper Cove Drive near the intersection of Paseo Verde. The accident happened at 8:40pm, and there is no immediate word if the driver was injured. There are some homes in the area, but none were damaged as a result of the incident. PG&E reports that the crash left some customers without electricity, and 17 are still out as repairs to the pole are being made this morning.
